Whiteriver Capital

About · Est. 2022

A day trading desk, run on its own capital.

Whiteriver Capital is a private day trading desk trading currency and gold markets through CFDs and futures derivatives, mostly with capital allocated by prop firms as well as its own capital.

We are also a trading community, and we help new traders get started, learn to trade with prop firms and trade in a way that works toward payouts and a growing portfolio. None of this is investment advice. We simply provide our insights, journey, and experience so that you don’t make the same mistakes we did.

01Our story

From retail trading to a business.

  1. 2020

We started trading in 2020 with ordinary retail trading.

  2. 2022

Prop firms came next, and by 2022 we were making solid payouts, so we set up a company dedicated to our trading with the long-term aim of one day managing capital professionally. From 2022 we traded full time and ran it as a business.

  3. Since 2022

The years since have brought large payouts and real setbacks. Personal circumstances meant we had to withdraw capital from the business at one point, some firms refused large payouts that we had legitimately earned, and one reputable firm we traded with was shut down.

  4. Now

We lost access to several firms along the way, and we have spent the time since rebuilding our system and our capital on reduced access to capital.

  5. Ahead

Our longer-term aim is to move our capital into its own isolated fund, trade it on a single account, and keep a record that can be audited. That record is meant to stand up to scrutiny before we look into the licensing needed to manage money for others.

02How we trade

Gold and currencies, mostly CFDs.

Markets

Currency and Gold markets are our primary expertise. We trade these through derivatives such as CFDs and Futures (but mostly CFDs).

Funding

More than 8 prop firms have funded us over the years, and we managed $1.7m in funded capital at our peak.

Process

We don’t publish our process on this site but we provide insights and tips inside our Discord community, where we also talk through the guiding principles behind our trading.

What we cover there

  • Risk management

How position size and risk per trade are set.

  • Trading process

How trades are planned, taken and reviewed.

  • Prop firms

How we handle our relationship with the firms we trade with, including their rules.

03Who’s behind it

One person, running the desk.

Igor

Day trader · 6 years

Whiteriver is run by one person, Igor.

I am a day trader with no special background beyond a long-standing passion for markets, macroeconomics, trading, and of course - money. I learned day trading during the COVID lockdowns, which ignited my passion for markets. I started as an ordinary retail trader and developed into a professional prop firm trader. I am still developing, and the aim is to eventually manage capital at an institutional level.

04Capital and structure

Whose money we trade.

What we do

We trade our own capital, plus capital allocated to us by prop firms.

What we don’t

We don’t take outside funds or manage money for anyone else.

05The community

A place to learn the prop firm game.

Whiteriver runs a Discord community for day traders. It focuses on how prop firms work and how to trade within their rules. We have been through the full cycle, including the payouts and the setbacks, and we can speak to it from experience.

We’re building a community that includes beginners who want to learn how to trade, and experienced traders who want to share their own insights and keep improving.
